Energy Yoga and Freedom

Monday 5th - Friday 10th 2024 in Italy

As a result of my passion for yoga, the fine arts and good food, I'm delighted to organise for you a retreat in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, the Italian region where I grew up, in the heart of the Mitteleuropa, in partnership with the Castello di Spessa Golf Wine Resort & Spa.

THE ENERGY YOGA RETREAT

If respectful practice is at the heart of Roger Clerc's teaching of Energy Yoga, freedom can be one of its most profound benefits.

Energy Yoga teaches us to feel and respect our abilities, without forcing ourselves. By getting rid of the voluntarism associated with "show yoga", that of the beautiful postures you usually find on Instagram, Energy Yoga teaches us to welcome our body, our mind and our emotions, just as they are. It helps us to distinguish them from ourselves, and therefore to "differentiate the spectacle from the spectator". This is how, by stepping back into our infinite inner space, a deep and true freedom can flourish, a space of calm can settle in and we can, perhaps, catch a glimpse of serenity.

In practical terms, we will explore our morphology dynamically using the techniques illustrated by Roger Clerc in his publications "Diagnostique de la Personnalité" and "Portrait flash". We will then practise with conscious gestures, trying to forget all the classical images of yoga in favour of postures that are beautiful because they come alive from inside of us, because they are right for us, as Roger Clerc wrote.

Welcomed in a unique setting, we'll be able to spread our wings in one of the halls of the Castello di Spessa, in the park and gardens, on one of the castle terraces or in the natural setting of the Casa di Caccia - a farmhouse situated on a hill opposite the castle, with a view of the castle and the Collio vineyards. In addition, the yoga class organised in the warm water of the castle's Summer Club pool will allow us to experience physically demanding poses thanks to the support of the water, exploring a new freedom of movement.

THE FRIULI-VENEZIA GIULIA

Discover a hidden gem in Italy!

Friuli Venezia Giulia (Italian: Friuli-Venezia Giulia) is an autonomous region in north-eastern Italy, with a population of around 1.2 million, covering an area of 7,924 km2 and with Trieste as its capital.

Friuli-Venezia Giulia is made up of two distinct geographical parts: Friuli, which accounts for 90% of the region's territory, and Venezia Giulia. The first toponym, "Friuli", comes from the Latin forum julii, a trading centre in Roman times that corresponds to the small modern town of Cividale. The second toponym, "Venezia Giulia", was coined by the linguist Graziadio Isaia Ascoli to reflect the fact that this territory belonged to the Republic of Venice for centuries, with the exception of Trieste, which was an Austrian port from 1382 to 1919.

This region is surrounded by the Adriatic Sea to the South and by the Alps to the North. To its West lies the Veneto region, with Venice, around 1 hour away by car or train. To the North it borders to Austria (Klagenfurt is 1 - 2 hours away), and to the East to Slovenia (Ljubljana is around 1 hour away). The territory is very varied, with mountains, hills and plains, rocky coasts between Duino and Trieste and sandy beaches between Grado and Lignano. The main rivers are the Tagliamento and the Isonzo.

When booking your retreat and stay, you'll receive an interesting package of information about the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region as a gift. For further information about this hidden gem of Italy, please do not hesitate to visit the website of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Tourist Office or contact me directly.

Come and discover the rich history of this region of Mitteleuropa, whose border town of Gorizia (in Italy) and its Slovenian counterpart Nova Gorica will be the European Capitals of Culture in 2025!
